This weekend gave me a chance to catch up with my good friend Debbie, who had just returned with her husband from an intriguing and magical trip to Morocco, and I was able to see some great images she took while there. What a lovely place to take tons and tons of pictures it looked to be!
We also made time for a quick trip to the camera store for her to fondle DSLRs, and after handling both Nikon and Canon, she felt the Canon fit her much better (hooray!!). I hope soon she will take the big step to a DSLR, as she has a good eye, has a good hand on post processing and I'll love having one more thing in common with her.
Finally, after lunch, we went to see "The Queen", starring Helen Mirren, all about the relationship between the Royal Family and newly-elected PM Tony Blair in the days following Princess Diana's sudden and shocking death in Paris in 1997. Helen Mirren was, as has been said by everyone, spectacular, and I found the movie fascinating. But what kept going through my mind was how much I wished my English friends (yes, that's you John, Gary, Squonk and Kavey) were there with me to hear what they thought of it. Of course I don't take the story as necessarily what actually happened, but it brought back memories of how awful that time was even here in the US. And on top of all that of course it made me want to be back in the UK again. It doesn't take much for that to happen!
